man wants to organise a Hallowe'en celebration as an
evangelistic activity. He presents his idea to the elder.
The elder responds. The saga begins...

"When
the Puppy Wags the Dog"
Young
people are the future". Of that there is no doubt.
But what kind of a future do the young people of today
foreshadow? Do today's young people fill you with
optimism for the remainder of this millennium? Or do
they make you shiver at the prospect of the next decade?
Having studied the direction in which young people have
been taken for the past decade or two, I fear that a
threshold has been passed long ago. We have reached the
stage where it is cool to be arrogant, insensitive and
uncaring where outward fashion is more
important than inward equilibrium -- where unhealthy
peer attachments have usurped the influence of wholesome
parental or community nurturing. In this 6500-word
article we examine the influences on young people today,
the purpose behind those influences and the direction in
which they are heading. "

Safer
for Whom? A Response to the Reported Capture of Saddam
Hussein
Now
that Saddam Hussein has allegedly been captured, we are
being told that the world is a safer place. It is
said that a line has been drawn in the sand and a
new chapter of history can now be written. According
to this view, the entire population of the world
can sleep easier in their beds now that Saddam is
finally behind bars.
Is all this true? Has the world now been rid of
one of its worst terrorists so that freedom and
democracy can come to Iraq? In this hard-hitting
and revealing article we show that, contrary to the
"safer world" scenario, the work of the
USA in Iraq involves a Faustian kiss of gothic
proportions and a portent of the darkness which is to
come.

Keys
to Heaven: "The solemn Ministry of Binding &
Loosing"
How
many times have you heard people speak about
"binding" and "loosing" demons? Vast
numbers of books litter Christian bookshops instructing
people on how to cast out demons, "bind" the
demonic realm and "loose" the Spirit. Commanding
demons to be "bound" in Jesus's name just rolls
off people's tongues, with never a doubt about whether or
not they are doing something which the Lord expects of
them, or if what they say is of any relevance to anything
in the universe! The "binding and loosing" of
demons is simply taken for granted as a valid Christian
activity. In this 8000 word article, we show what the Lord
Jesus really meant when He spoke about "binding"
and "loosing", and how we can avoid believing in
a fantasy-world of ideas on this subject and any.

"The
Blessed Three-in-One: The Christian Doctrine of the
Trinity Proven from Scripture"
"The
doctrine concerning the Trinitarian nature of God is
probably one of the most misunderstood teachings of the
Christian faith. This is hardly surprising. Firstly, the
doctrine is rarely preached on and therefore there is a
great deal of ignorance about it. Secondly, because of its
seeming complexity and difficulty to be adequately
comprehended, people assume it must be an invented
teaching with no biblical references. Thirdly, because it
is such a vital teaching the very heart and
revelation of true divinity and deity it is
especially vulnerable to attack. In this brief paper, it
is not our purpose to concentrate on the historical
controversies. There is a great deal of theological and
historical literature already devoted to this. Our main
concern here is to redress the rejection of Trinitarian
teaching by many sincere Christians".

The
Mystery of Lawlessness: A Biblical & Historical
Exposition of Antichrist
"In
this 20,000 word study, we examine the thorny topic of the
identification of the Antichrist as portrayed in
Scripture. There have been a great many offerings
throughout the history of the Church, and even in our own
day. In view of the fact that the revealing of the
Antichrist will be the final chapter in the cosmic history
of sin, and considering that it is the curtain-raiser to
the second coming of Christ, it is surely a subject which
warrants our attention grim though the details
may be. Of special interest to us in this article is the
identification, in certain quarters, of the Roman Catholic
pope as the Antichrist. The almost obsessional vehemence
with which this view is held by many of its adherents
 and the ungracious, ear-stopping, sectarian
spirit shown towards those who do not share it
has inspired us to examine it here through the evidence of
Scripture rather than the blind prejudice of men".

The
Scandal of Spiritual Abuse In Churches - Part Four
This
is a follow-up to the last part of this series,
entitled "Deliverance or Bondage?",
in which I presented an account, by a lady, of her
harrowing experiences at the hands of both a "Toronto
Blessing" type of church and a so-called deliverance
ministry known as Ellel Ministries. I also gave my
own thoughts on the awful things which she had undergone,
supposedly in the name of Christ. [N.B. It is
important for you to have read the previous part of the
series before reading this one. Then you will
understand better what is being written here].
In this fourth part in our series on spiritual abuse in
churches, we respond to those who have sought to defend
so-called "Deliverance Ministries". In
this 10,000 word article, we demonstrate that there is no
biblical foundation to the idea of "deliverance"
from demons for Christian believers, and further show the
corrupt and cult-like nature of those ministries which
practice this art and reveal their reliance on Altered
States of Consciousness in order to carry out their
manipulations.

The
Scandal Of Spiritual Abuse In Churches - Part Three
So
many people are being abused in churches that a vast
number of wounded souls are littering the internet in a
state of confusion and fear. These have all been
abused either at the hands of wacky churches which imagine
they are involved in a spiritual revival or by so-called
"deliverance ministries" which claim to free
Christians from being demonised or demon possessed.
In this article, you will read of a woman's harrowing
experiences in both of these corrupt arenas, together with
Alan Morrison's comments to steer you through it.
This is the tip of the iceberg of an untold scandal of
massive proportions in the Christian scene today, which is
being upheld and protected by big names and organisations
in mainstream denominationalism and also in the
evangelical world

Some
Spiritual realities - Part 2: Defining True Fundamentalism
In
"Some Spiritual Realities, Part 1", I
spoke about the heart of discernment as being centred
on the meeting of spiritual need. Having a
discernment 'ministry' means that one discerns what the
spiritual need is at any given moment and then meets that
need -- whether it involves providing information which
plugs a hole in someone's theology, exposing something
which is deceiving people, facilitating fellowship for lonely
believers, etc. All those things are for protection
and growth. We then exposed some spiritual
realities and discovered some eternal implications of
those realities.
The central statement of that previous article was the
fact that "unless people realise that being
a fundamentalist involves far more than adherence to a set
of beliefs, they will fail to be true
fundamentalists". In this 4000-word second
part of "Some Spiritual Realities", we
develop this theme of Fundamentalism and define in closer
detail what it means to be a fundamentalist.

Some
Spiritual realities - Part 1: Making sense of Evil in the
Christian Scene
One
of the most confusing experiences for the discerning
Christian today is the fact that there are so many nasty
people who profess to be Christians! If you are a
sensitive soul, this can really throw you about. To
be a discerning Christian today, "one needs
the hide of a Rhinoceros and the alertness of a world
class spy"! The first is for protection;
the second is in order to ensure that one keeps oneself
one step ahead of the duplicity and chicanery which is
all-pervasive in today's Christian scene. How are we
to make sense of this? What theology do we need to
apply in order to come to terms with it. These are
the questions we answer in this 4000-word article.
In doing so, we will expose some spiritual realities
and even discover some eternal implications.

Whatever
Happened to the Christian Mind?
"Something
drastic has happened to the Christian mind. It has
-- to coin a phrase -- "gone out to lunch"! Many
have mistakenly thought that it is only
necessary to be converted or profess conversion and
then they don't have to do anything else at all in order
to grow as people. They assume that it will all
somehow be done to them or for them, supernaturally, and
they won't have to lift a finger. This is a profound
mistake, and one which has led to so much foolishness,
arrogance and unpleasantness in the Christian scene. The
carryings-on in many churches today make one wonder
what caused the Christian mind to go "out to
lunch" so voraciously. This 13,000 word article
(an expanded transcript of a talk given in the U.K. in
August 2001) is an attempt to provide the answer."

PDF
version
This
is an in-depth biblical-theological study concerning the
relationship of the believer to God's Law. It
distinguishes between the Mosaic Covenant given on Sinai
and the New Covenant in Christ. It seeks to answer the
question about whether believers today should avoid
certain foods, wear special clothes, and commemorate a
weekly Sabbath or other Jewish festivals. It seeks
to provide a Biblical basis for Christian ethics in our
time by identifying what is the "rule of life"
for the believer today. What is the governing
principle and sanctifying power in the life of the
Christian? This 20,000 word study is a meagre attempt to
answer that question. Please read it with an open Bible
and an open heart. This paper is only available in

DISCERNING
THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES - A Four-Part Exposition of the New
Spirituality:
Part
1: "Spirit
of Babel: The New Spirituality in Redemptive
History"
html
version
PDF
version
This
is part one of "Discerning the Signs
of the Times: A Four-Part Exposition of the
"New Spirituality".
In 1997 and 1998, Alan
Morrison gave a series of talks on what is known
as the "New Spirituality" --
also known as the "New
Consciousness" or "New Age
Movement". In particular, these
talks were designed to demonstrate that this New
Spirituality was not some new, faddish,
middle-class indulgence but a global realisation
of the "satanic initiation" into
which our first parents, Adam and Eve, were
seduced, and also a natural outworking of
the subsequent "spirit of
antichrist" which became a leading
force in the development of world religion.
These talks were first given at the
"Conference on Cults" at Westminster
Theological Seminary in Escondido, California in
September 1997, and were then expanded with more
material at the Diakrisis Conference in the U.K.
in 1998. The transcripts of these seven
one-hour talks have now been specially
amalgamated , and then incorporated with the
same amount again of additional written material into
four large articles under the umbrella heading "Discerning
the Signs of the Times: A Four-Part Exposition
of the New Spirituality".
The four articles are entitled: 1) "Spirit
of Babel: The New Spirituality &
Redemptive History" (c. 26,000 words);
2) "Novus Ordo Seclorum: The New
Spirituality & the New World Order"
(c. 20,000 words); 3) "Unholy
Spirit: The New Spirituality in the Church"
(c. 20,000 words); 4) "Scenes
from Armageddon: The New Spirituality and the
End of the Age" (c. 16,000 words).

The
New Diaspora: Strange Measures for Strange Times
It
is a modern fact of life that many genuine, diligent
Christians do not attend a church. Not being with a church
is not an ideal situation. But we live in strange times;
and in strange times, one has to take strange measures.
Many today have taken strange measures and
wounded, abused and utterly disillusioned have
left churches altogether. In fact, what has happened
is that a New Diaspora -- dispersion, scattering -- of
disenfranchised souls has been born across the world.
It is a global Diaspora pregnant with potential for the
Kingdom, if only there will be understanding and empathy,
instead of rejection and browbeating. In this
8000-word article we examine how this phenomenon has
occurred, and what could be its future.

Moving
the Goalposts: The Unfolding Tragedy of the New
Evangelicalism
At
one time there was just one orthodox, biblical view on a
number of issues which were part of the fundamentals of
the faith. These were generally agreed on, throughout the
entire evangelical constituency. But all that has
gradually changed. We have arrived at a situation now in
which people who all profess to be evangelicals can have a
wide variety of opinions on what were, at one time
non-negotiable, essentially fundamental matters. How
have professing evangelicals got into this situation?
It has happened because people have "moved the
goalposts" -- changed the rules which determine what
is truth and what it isn't.
In this 17,000 word article, based on
two lectures, we ask 1) In which areas have the goalposts
been moved? 2) What are the motives for moving them?
3) Is there any action we can take to restore those
goalposts to their original situation?

A
Laugh a Day Keeps the Pharisees Away: A Biblical Analysis
of Humour
Is
there humour in the Bible? Are Christians supposed to
enjoy "a good laugh"? Is comedy permitted for
Christians? These are serious questions. For there are
some believers who would answer soundly in the negative to
all three. Or, even if they would not openly say
"No", they appear to do so with their lives and
by the sombre expression on their faces whenever something
humorous occurs or is uttered. This little article is
written as a soundly polemical "Yes!" to those
three questions.

Nehemiah:
Role Model for 2001
In
chapter 2 of the Book of Nehemiah, the scene is set for a
most extraordinary vignette depicting the relationship
between the faithful believer and his enemies when he
dedicates his life to the Lord's work.
Thus, as Nehemiah represents the
faithful believer of any era, so Sanballat the Horonite
and Tobiah the Ammonite official represent the classic
enemies of the faithful and their faith at any point in
history. Wherever one finds faithful believers who are
courageous enough to be rebuilders -- to take on the
enemies who cause breaches in walls and gates -- one will
find the Sanballats and Tobiahs.
In this 8000-word exposition, we show
that the experience of Nehemiah at the hands of Sanballat
and Tobiah provides us with the supreme "role
model" for this year of 2001 -- a great example of
how to engage in our building work and then stand up to
the forces which oppose it. This will often
be dangerous. It can sometimes get scary.
It is guaranteed to cause turmoil and anger around us.
But it cannot ultimately fail.

True
Revival or Apostasy? A Comparison Between the Modern
"Toronto Blessing" Style of Revivalism &
Historic Revivals
The mention of the "Toronto Blessing" today
seems very outmoded. For many, this is now history...
times have moved on, and the fads of the past are no
longer with us. However, this would be a grave
misjudgement. True, people no longer speak of an actual
"Toronto Blessing". But this is because the
"Toronto Blessing" has done its work. It was
never intended, in the plan of Satan, to be the
'be-all-and-end-all". It was designed to be a major
component in the shifting of mainstream evangelicalism in
an even more experiential and subjective direction than it
had already travelled. Masses of churches were affected,
and still are to this day. Wherever the Alpha Course goes,
this style of "revivalism" goes with it.
The overall message is that personal psycho-religious
experience takes precedence over objective truth. A large
part of evangelicalism had already been moving in that
direction for many years. All that the "Toronto
Blessing" did was to accelerate the process -- a
process which is still developing and consolidating to
this day.
The above article is the transcript of
a talk originally given in the U.K. in July 1994, entitled
"The Toronto Blessing -- Is it Revival?"
The main headings are: 1) The Seven Hallmarks of Genuine
Revival; 2) The Handling of Physical and Emotional
Phenomena During the History of Revivals; 3) The True
Origins of the "Toronto Blessing" Style of
"Revival".

Power
for Ministry & Mission: The Work of the Holy Spirit in
the Church
A
great deal of words are spoken about the Holy Spirit
today. If even half the things attributed to Him by
many churches and professing Christians were genuinely His
work, we would have a God of Chaos rather than Cosmos!
Why is it that so much outlandish and disorderly behaviour
is claimed to be the work of the Spirit? Could it be
that the foundational conception of the Holy Spirit held
by many is fatally flawed -- viewing Him as some kind of
forcefield or energy emanating from the Godhead?
What does the Holy Spirit really do in
churches? What are the dignified, noble and powerful
ways that He works in His church? This 5000 word
paper has been developed from a talk given on the subject
to a group of pastors, the purpose of which is to restore
the honour of the Spirit's name and our sense of
admiration and wonder at His perfect ways.

How
Many Years in a Day: The Reinterpretation of Genesis 1 -
11
The duration of the creation days of Genesis 1 is an
increasingly debated issue in these last days. As Satan
continues to undermine the truths of Scripture --
especially in terms of creation and redemption -- we can
expect to see an expanding number of evangelical
seminaries and publishing houses endorsing the notion of a
billion year old earth with creation days of age-long
duration as being the only academically respectable
opinion. A literal interpretation of Genesis 1 is
gradually being eclipsed as an untenable and
intellectually defunct dogma. Not only is Chapter 1 of the
first book of Moses under attack, but the whole of the
first eleven chapters are being buried under a confusing
sea of alleged symbolism prescribed by influential
scholastics and scientists who profess to be Evangelicals.
In this article, which first appeared in the Diakrisis
Journal in 1990, David C.C. Watson shows why this
re-interpretation of Genesis constitutes a serious
departure from reason, from Scripture and, above all, from
the mind of God.

Feminism of which most people are entirely unaware. In

Sorcerous
Apprentices (1) -- The Occult Background of Psychotherapy
Because of the spiralling deterioration in faithfulness to
the Bible and adherence to orthodox Christian doctrine
during the last couple of decades, fertile ground has also
been provided in many denominations and fellowships for
the practice of various forms of the
"mind-sciences", such as trance and hypnosis
(with its associated suggestion and auto-suggestion),
psychism, psychotherapies (which travel under the trade
names of 'Inner Healing', 'Rebirthing' and the 'Healing of
the Memories'), meditation techniques and mantras,
visualisation (imaging), the inducement of hysteria,
unbiblical exorcistic rites, and many others.
Because the practice of a variety of
psychotherapeutic techniques is now so widespread
throughout the churches, a number of radical questions
need to be raised. Are Christians really aware of the true
historical roots of psychotherapy? What are the aims of
its advocates? What purpose does it serve in the
outworking of world history today? Is there any support
for psychotherapy in the Bible? Should the Christian seek
the services of a secular or even of a Christian
psychotherapist in the event of behavioural or perceptual
problems developing in his mental or emotional life?
In this 27,000-word paper, we expose the occult origins of
the mind-sciences in psychology and test the claims of
psychotherapy against the teachings of Scripture.

Sorcerous
Apprentices (2) -- "Christianised" Occultism in
the Church
During the last
few decades we have witnessed a huge growth of what is
commonly known as the "Word of Faith" movement.
This movement not only promises earthly prosperity and
good health to the faithful Christian but it also
advocates the use of various techniques in order to
achieve it. These
techniques are Visualisation (sometimes known as 'Imaging'
or 'Imagineering'), and verbal affirmations (sometimes
known as 'Positive Confession' or 'Rhema' theology).
The use of the art of Visualisation has also been
advocated for use in faith healing and spiritual growth
(sometimes known as 'Inner Healing' or 'Healing of the
Memories') by a number of leading teachers and evangelists
in the Christian scene. Among the many well-known
names who have advocated one or other of these techniques
have been Kenneth
Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, William Branham, Charles Capps,
Morris Cerullo, Selwyn Hughes, David (aka Paul) Yonggi Cho,
Morton Kelsey, John Avanzini, Jesse Duplantis, Jerry
Savelle, Oral Roberts, Marilyn Hickey, Frederick Price,
Paul Crouch, Pat Robertson, Robert Tilton, Ray McCauley,
David Seamands, Richard Foster and Ruth Carter Stapleton.
In this 24,000-word paper, we prove
that the techniques of Mind-Power and Word-Power have been
directly borrowed from classic Occult sources, and are
designed to take the focus of Christians away from Christ
and His work on the Cross and bring them into a
satanic form of syncretistic New Age religion. We
can only conclude that such "Christianised"
occultism is yet one more component in the process leading
to the prophesied time of great evil on this earth.

A
New Creation -- Christianity & Transformation
There are many
churches in the world which appear to believe that people
can become Christians with very little change taking place
in their lives or their minds. They can go to church on
Sundays and even attend many other church meetings, but
their lives do not really change and neither do their
ideas. However, that is not real Christianity, but what we
can call "easy believism". One of the
signs that you are saved is the fact that your whole
"worldview" will be different to how it was
before you were a Christian, and that it will also be
different to the worldview of the rest of the unbelieving
world. This is vital for us to grasp if we are to
make sense of the widespread superficiality of doctrine
and practice among professing Christians today. So
what kind of transformation should we expect?

Old
Macdonald has a Church -- An Examination of the
Evangelical Passion for "Barn Dancing"
Barn Dances are
all the rage today in many evangelical churches. Often
they are used as evangelistic outreach events, with the
whole community being invited. A Barn Dance has been
officially defined by the "Barn Dance & Ceilidh
Agency" as "a cross between American Square
Dancing, Riverdance and the sort of thing the third class
passengers were doing below deck in the film
Titanic!" Using a question as a
springboard, in this article we examine this secular dance
activity to see whether it is as wholesome and appropriate
for a church setting as many would have us believe.

Ten
Sure Signs of Salvation
How can you know
if you are saved? It is very common for people to be
taught that they should always be questioning their
salvation as so many claim that this is something of which
believers can never be sure. However, we believe
that the idea that Christians have continually to doubt
their salvation is a script that must have been written by
the enemy of souls! Assurance of faith is necessary
for peace of mind. Here we give ten certain signs of
salvation, which believers can use as a litmus test that
they have been saved.

No, this is not
a review of the latest releases in the Contemporary
Christian Music scene! It is simply my own personal
top thirty classical music recordings, with
recommendations of my favourite versions. When I put
this out on the Diakrisis e-mail list recently, many asked
for it to be put up on the website. So here it is.

Lies,
Damned Lies -- The Hallmarks of the New Gnosticism
Every religion
has its hallmarks; and the New Spirituality (or New Age
Movement) which we discover everywhere today is no
exception. In this paper, we survey ten of its
universal hallmarks, clearly showing their deceptions and
designs. Many of these hallmarks were apparent, or at
least incipient, within the teachings of the ancient
Gnosticism which was prevalent in the Early Church era.
But with increased development and syncretism, they found
their fullness in its more recent manifestation as the New
Gnosticism. They all share the same motivation: to
undermine the foundations of the Lord's people, to cast to
one side the concept of a Transcendent Personal God, to
overthrow the teachings of the Holy Bible, and to
contribute towards the building of Satan's pretended
earthly kingdom.

Rulership
& Service -- A Biblical Understanding of Christian
Ministry for Men and Women
html
version PDF
version
It
is extraordinary how much heat has been generated among
evangelicals concerning any possible ministry for women in
the local church. Many evangelicals today prefer
instead to bow either to tradition or to the demands of
political correctness and the meaningless meanderings of
liberal and neo-evangelical commentators. In this
study, we seek to restore a biblical understanding of the
differing ministries of men and women as established by
the Apostles and enacted in the Early Church and again at
the time of the European Reformation.

Soul
Guest on your TV -- Oprah Winfrey's Religion
She is one of the most influential women in the world.
Her TV show regularly tops the ratings. Many
professing Christians love her show. They think she
is merely a philanthropist who helps abused women and
children. In a recent research poll across the USA
asking people "who they thought would be in
Heaven", Oprah Winfrey topped the list. We
therefore thought it would be useful to check out Oprah's
religion to see what spiritual values and worldview she is
radiating across the globe.

Blessed
Assurance -- Salvation, A Gift for Eternity
The Christians story and song is the blessed
assurance that "Jesus is mine!" To be
"in Christ" in this life is truly "a
foretaste of glory divine!" But how many
Christians even if they heartily sing about it
 actually believe it? Is salvation
irrevocably forever? Although it is very fashionable
today to scoff at the idea of "once saved, always
saved", what do the Scriptures teach on the matter?

Me, O Lord -- The Demise of Didacticism
html

How
easily we run from what we do not understand. How little
we persevere to penetrate apparent adversity. How far we
have gone in our bid to water things down, to dilute
difficulty, to make things so simple that they no longer
carry their original meaning. In this article, we
show that the primary reason for this development, in the
world and in the church, has been the erosion of
authoritative teaching -- didactics.

Spare
a Thought for Mary (Good Friday Meditation)
Because
of the abuse to which the precious memory of the mother of
the Lord Jesus has often been subjected in the history of
the church, some Protestants have had a tendency to play
down her unique importance in Gods plan of
salvation. Spare a thought now for her experience as
the mother of the God-Man Saviour.

Mother
Teresa & the Religion of the New World Order
In the popular mind, Mother Teresa represents the epitome
of the Christian person -- the ultimate example of the
work of Christ. However, an examination of the
people with whom she openly associated and the beliefs she
espoused reveal that far from being a proponent of
biblical Christianity, she was an avid supporter of the
New Age spirituality which has become the hallmark of the
New World Order.

the doctrine of Election is a vital part of withstanding
the current push towards pantheistic New Age mystical

Election, and assert the mythological idol of human free
will, we play straight into the hands of those who wish to
destroy the idea of the Transcendence of God.

No
Adam - No Christ -- What happens When we Deny that Genesis
1 - 3 is History
Comparatively
few professing Christians actually believe that the man,
Adam, and his wife, Eve, ever existed, or that they were
created in just the way it says in Genesis 2, or that
their creation happened right at the beginning of human
history rather than after billions of years of supposed
evolution. This article documents the serious
implications for the Christian faith if we do not believe
in the historical reality of Genesis 1 - 3.

A
powerful religious experience has swept through many
churches across the world, involving falling down at the
touch of a person's hands. It is claimed that this
experience is vital for the Christian and
life-transforming. In this widely-read leaflet we
investigate -- through a question and answer format -- the
origin of this phenomenon and ask some important questions
about its psycho-spiritual effects.

Saving
That Which is Lost -- The Challenge to Christian Mission
& Evangelism at the Close of the Twentieth Century
(Diakrisis Interim Paper No.3)
html
version PDF
version
Is
it necessary for people to know about Jesus Christ, the
Messiah, the Son of God born in Bethlehem, in order for
them to be saved and receive eternal life? Will a
pagan who does not believe in Christ but who lives a
religious and moral life -- devoted to his or her
God and practising charitable works - be
excluded from heaven? Is it right to refer to
unbelievers as being lost? Is
it only Christians who have the indwelling Holy Spirit or
Christ living in them? These are some of the questions
being asked today by many evangelicals in church
leadership and on the mission field. At one time
there would have been a resounding "Yes!" to all
of them. But today many are unsure. In this
article we trace the background to such thinking and show
that there is a historical process at work which seeks to
undermine the uniqueness of the Christian gospel.

Rivers
of Living Water -- The Biblical Doctrine of Renewal
html
version PDF
version
The
word renewal is one of many which
have been hijacked from their Biblical or
lexical context and then spuriously reapplied to a
sectarian cause. However, far from being confined to
referring to a weird display of extraordinary phenomena,
or sporadic outbursts of revivalism, or a religious
movement in history, the Biblical doctrine of Renewal
embraces the whole creation.
In this study, we seek to overthrow the
revisionism which has beset this doctrine for the last few
decades, while setting out the true extent and
magnificence of this unique work of the Holy Spirit in
salvation, which is both individual and cosmic, particular
and universal in its outworkings.

The
Evangelical Attraction to Mysticism
This is a 14,000
word transcript of two talks given on this subject in July
1997, entitled "Catholic Mysticism and
Evangelicals". The twin-pincer movements which
are arrayed against the Christian faith at this point in
history are Syncretism and Mysticism. In Chapter 7
of The
Serpent & the Cross, we examined the way that
Mysticism has infiltrated the professing Christian Church
over the past 2000 years. In the transcript of these
talks, we show how Mysticism has also come to hold a
fascination for so many who would also claim to be
evangelical.

The
Ascended Masters -- Rulers of the Darkness of this Age
Many times in the course of our writings, we have
spoken of a hierarchy of spirit-entities known variously
as the "Ascended Masters" or "Great White
Brotherhood" or "Brotherhood of Luxor". The
widespread popularising of this phenomenon is probably the
single most important contribution of the New Age Movement
to the rising tide of psychic evil. These beings are
alleged by many today to be overseeing the spiritual and
'evolutionary' development of the human race on both an
individual level and in terms of the process of global
civilisation. In this article we examine the
background to this phenomenon.
